Public Legal Entities to Become Eligible for Grants in Azerbaijan

On 1 February, Milli Meclis made a change in the Law on Grant. According to the modification, public legal entities will also be able to be a recipient. In their relations with donors, recipients are those who receive grants.

Note that, the Law of Azerbaijan Republic on Public Legal Entities came into force in February 2016. Under a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on 24 November 2016, ‘public legal entities’ were created by some agencies having the status of a ‘central executive power body’, ‘executive power body’ or ‘state agency’.

Public law is the aggregate of legal norms regulating the relationships related to satisfying national and public interests.

‘Public Corporation’ is a non-state or non-municipal organisation created on behalf of the state or municipality or by a public legal entity and engaged in activities of national or public importance.
