Radio Liberty has been honored with an international award. The International Broadcasting Companies Union unveiled the names of media companies which prepared excellence television and radio broadcasts of 2009.
On 4 November in London, during an event where more than 200 media leaders from five continents participated, Radio Liberty was honored with the international award – AIB MEDIA EXCELLENCE AWARD in the category of ‘Best Radio Coverage of a Single News Event.’
Radio Liberty presented to the contest its broadcast prepared on 18 March – the day of referendum.
BBC World Service, Radio Netherlands, Russia Today, France 24, Radio Canada, Australian Broadcasting Corporation and other companies in addition to Radio Liberty participated in the contest.
Azerbaijan Service is the first service which was received this award in the sixty year history of Radio Liberty.
