REAL Executive Secretary Natig Jafarli has been released from pre-trial detention based on the petition of the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office submitted to Nasimi District Court, lawyer Javad Javadov has said.
According to the lawyer, the court has annulled the pre-trial detention measure against Natig Jafarli and ordered his immediate release.
“Today at 5 pm I received a phone call and was told to go to the court as the Prosecutor’s Office had filed a petition for Natig’s release. The pre-trial detention measure has been revoked, but the criminal case is ongoing. Tomorrow they will choose a restrictive measure other than pre-trial detention,” the lawyer noted.
Natig Jafarli has been released from Baku Detention Centre where he was held on remand.

He was charged under Articles 192.1 (illegal business) and 308.2 (abuse of official powers – when such actions lead to serious consequences) of the Criminal Code, and Nasimi District Court sentenced him to four-months of pre-trial detention.
