The Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety contacted Binegedi District Police Department #7 Investigator Elnur Aliyev regarding the beating of "Azadlig" Newspaper journalist Agil Khalil.
When asked why the case material was sent back from the Binegedi District Prosecutor's Office to the Police Department, Aliyev said, "There was no expert medical diagnosis in the case materials, and the identities of people who beat the journalist remain unknown. That is why the materials were returned back." He then added, "I contacted the experts today. A representative there told me that this will be ready by tomorrow. After the identities of the people who committed the beating are clear the case is expected to be submitted to the Binegedi Prosecutor's Office."
