SALE OF “BAKU ZAMAN” NEWSPAPER BANNED IN LANKARAN

For two weeks now the sale of “Baku Zaman” newspaper has been banned in Azerbaijan’s southern region of Lankaran.

“Baku Zaman” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Elnur Maharramli told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
According to Maharramli, the Lankaran region’s Executive Administration has imposed the ban. “The ban stems from articles we wrote about incidents happening in the region. We are going to wait for one more week. If they continue to forbid the sale of the newspaper, we’ll think about taking certain measures,” said Maharramli, noting that he didn’t want to talk beforehand about the steps they are going to take.
