Relatives of Yeni Musavat correspondent Leyla Musatafayev, based in the Gazakh region, are facing harrassment, and the sale of the newspaper has been banned in the region, reported Mustafayeva to IRFS.
Mustafayeva says that this harrassment is related to her professional activity.
“On January 25th, our newspaper published an article titled “State Statistical Committee Chairmanship costs 15,000 AZN”. This was based on information submitted to our editorial office by the Gazakh region. According to this information, the region’s executive head Rauf Huseynov had demanded 15,000 AZN from the candidate chairmen. Upon publication of the article, Huseynov began to harrass my relatives in Gazakh. He called my on of my relatives, head of Gazakh Regional Trade Union Farhad Gojamanov, and threatened to get him fired. ”
