Shirin Abbasov released after serving out his sentence

 

Meydan TV journalist Shirin Abbasov, who has been held at the Main Organised Crime Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs since 16 September, has been released into his family’s custody, reported his lawyer Elchin Sadigov.

 

According to the lawyer, neither he nor Shirin Abbasov’s colleagues has seen him.

 

Background: Shirin Abbasov, a journalist cooperating with Meydan TV, was sentenced by Yasamal District Court to 30 days’ administrative detention on 16 September, on charges of resisting the police. Later, Baku Court of Appeal upheld the Yasamal District Court’s decision.
