IREX (International Research and Exchange Council) Assistance to Media project and Lawyers Association of America (ABA ROLI) are conducting one day training for journalists and lawyers with financial support from USAID. The training will be held on 29 August 2009 in Azerbaijan’s Media Center on the theme “Coverage of pre-hearing processes and court cases in media”.
The training will be lead by four experienced specialists – lawyers Isakhan Ashurov and Alasgar Mammadli, well-known professor in journalism Zeynal Mammadli and Radio Liberty Baku Bureau Head Khadija Ismayilova. Problems related to the coverage of pre-hearing processes and court cases in media, mistakes and their solution will be discussed, and information about different experiences will be given. Half of the auditorium will consist of lawyers and half will consist of journalists. Therefore interesting discussions will take place during the training. During the training the book “Journalist’s Legal Adviser” will be distributed free of charge.
Forty people (20 lawyers and 20 journalists) are expected to participate in the training.
The training will be held on 29 August from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The participants will be given certificates after the training.
