Established in 1990, TURAN is the first independent news agency on the post USSR by group of journalists. The agency prepares the regular news coverage (politics, economy, social sector, etc) and news analysis in English, Azerbaijani and Russian. In 2007, TURAN News Agency was rewarded "Independent Media in Eastern Europe" named after Gerd Biserius established by ZEIT-Stiftung (Germany) and the Freedom Speech Foundation (Fritt Ord, Norway).
