Yeni Musavat newspaper has filed a lawsuit in the Yasamal District Court against the State Customs Committee due to its failure to respond to an information inquiry.
The Institute for Reporters` Freedom and Safety was told this by the newspaper’s attorney, Vagif Huseyn today, 12 November.
According to Vagif Huseyn, the lawsuit stems from the failure to respond to the information inquiry that Yeni Musavat newspaper had addressed to State Customs Committee Chairman Aydin Aliyev on 12 August, 2009. In the inquiry information was asked regarding the sections of customs incomes for imports to Azerbaijan, indicators on the goods groups (including cars) and the most important goods, and the total volume of imported goods which are freed from the customs incomes and goods on separate years between 2004-2008. However, the Committee Chairman made excuses and refused to respond to the inquiry.
