On Wednesday, the Baku Court of Appeal rejected the complaint of activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev against the refusal to release on bail.
As Rovshan Rahimli’s lawyer told Turan, The activist’s health continues to deteriorate, on the 16th day of the hunger strike, dizziness, low blood pressure and loss of consciousness became common, a lawyer Rovshana Rahimli told Turan.
The doctor of the pre-trial detention center examined Hajiyev and pointed out the threat of irreversible processes in the brain and heart. However, there are no computed tomography and echocardiogram equipment in the pre-trial detention center.
The lawyer noted, the activist asked to pay attention to the need for appropriate examinations. As for gastric bleeding, Hajiyev’s blood was taken for analysis, but so far there are no results.
It should be noted that representatives of the diplomatic corps also arrived at today’s session of the Court of Appeal, but no one was allowed into the session hall.
* Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on December 9 on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai District Court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days. On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release. On December 28, he ended his hunger strike after persistent calls from the public and family members. However, on January 9, he resumed his hunger strike after the appeal court refused to release him, and the strike continues to this day.
On January 21, the court extended Hajiyev’s arrest for another 1 month.
