Five protesters were administratively arrested

The Sabail District Court of Baku  ruled on the administrative arrest of five activists detained during a protest on December 1 in defense of Saleh Rustamov.

Thus, a member of the Presidium of the Popular Front Party, Ilham Huseyn,  has been sentrenced to 30 days of arrest; the activist of the same party Elchin Teymurov and Elhan Aliyev  – to 25 and 20 days of arrest, respectively;

The veteran of the first Karabakh war Sayad Guliyev has been sentenced to 15 days, and the youth activist Rustam Ismayilbeyli was sentenced to 30 days of arrest.

All of them were found guilty under the Article  211.1 (violation of anti-epidemic, sanitary-hygienic and quarantine regimes) of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

It should be reminded that on December 1, the police harshly stopped a rally in support of Saleh Rustamov, who was on a long hunger strike in prison. Over 40 people were detained. Most of the detainees were later released. Five people, however, were detained in police stations and were brought to trial today. In addition, some of the detainees were beaten by the police.

The most severely beaten was the opposition politician Tofig Yagublu.
