Huseyn Melik was sentenced to 20 days of administrative arrest, the Azerbaijan Democracy and Welfare Party reported.
Huseyn Melik, a member of the Azerbaijani Democracy and Welfare Party (ADWP), was detained by the police this morning.
According to the head of the ADWP, Gubad Ibadoglu, the reasons for the detention are not yet known. However, Ibadoglu believes that the detention is most likely connected with Melik’s statements in an interview with journalists at the Baku Court of Appeal, where the trial of Zamin Salayev, an activist of the Popular Front Party, took place.
Melik sharply criticized the authorities for maintaining Salayev’s sentence of imprisonment for a period of 4 years.
It was not possible to get comments from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
