On December 10, the Baku Court of Appeal 10 considered complaints about the administrative arrest of two opposition activists – Ilham Huseyn and Rustam Ismayilbeyli.
Ilham Huseynov, a member of the Presidium of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, and a young activist, Rustam Ismayilbeyli, were detained on December 1 in connection with a rally in support of an opposition supporter Saleh Rustamov, who is on a long hunger strike in prison. On December 2, the Sabail District Court sentenced each of them to 30 days of administrative arrest on charges of violating social distance.
The Court of Appeal dismissed the complaints of both activists, leaving them in custody.
The defense of both activists will apply to the European Court of Justice in order to obtain recognition in the future of the violation of their rights.
