Trade union activist arrested for 4 months

A member of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation under the “Democracy 1918” Movement, Elvin Mustafayev was charged under Article 234.4.3 (large scale drug trafficking) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan and arrested for 4 months. This was reported to Turan by Interior Ministry press service officer Anar Gafarov.

According to him, Mustafayev “confessed to what he had done”.

In turn, the “Democracy 1918” Movement believes that Mustafayev incriminated himself under pressure, and his arrest is related to his activity in the Trade Union Association of Couriers.

As a reminder, Mustafayev was detained on 4 August after he took part in a protest action of couriers on 1 August.

 On the same day, the head of the Trade Union Confederation under the “Democracy 1918” Movement, Afiyaddin Mammadov weas also detained. On 2 August, the court administratively arrested him for 30 days for “disobeying the police” and “petty hooliganism”.
