“Taking into account the fact that the recent developments taking place in our region and the sensitivity of these events could affect the friendship and brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan, we – the founders of Zaman-Azerbaycan newspaper – want to bring it to the attention of the public that, by reasserting our support for Azerbaijani state and statehood, we have decided to shut down Zaman-Azerbaycan newspaper and zaman.az website as of today,” the newspaper founders’ statement reads.

Zaman.az website is linked to Fetullah Gulen, who lives in the United States.

Zaman-Azerbaycan newspaper has been issued since May 24, 1991.
