Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Special Rapporteur on Azerbaijan Andreas Herkel expressed opinion on the arrest of “Alumni Network” Youth Organization Coordinator, ANTV Online TV Leader Emin Milli and one of “OL” Youth Organization’s coordinators, well-known video-blogger Adnan Hajizade, according to Radio Liberty.
“Detaining young activists this way, prolonging their detention terms, and conducting this kind of investigation cannot be justified especially because we do not know what in reality happened in the restaurant,” said A.Herkel.
To a question about anticipated pardon decree for imprisoned journalists, A.Herkel said that he hopes issues regarding the journalists will be solved positively. “Especially those journalists whose arrests are understood to be spurious and whose cases have been sent to the European Court of Human Rights. This harms the country’s international image,” emphasized A.Herkel.
