“The Assistance Fund for Freedom of Speech and Defense of Journalists” assisted the families of two imprisoned journalists – Editor-in-Chief of the “Gundelik Azerbaijan” and “Realny Azerbaijan” newspapers Eynulla Fatullayev and “Azadlig” Newspaper employee Sakit Zahidov in the amount of 400 USD.
League of Democratic Journalists Chairman Yadigar Mammadli told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety. According to him, this money was given on the basis of appeals made by the journalists’ families.
Y. Mammadli stated that the appeals of one more journalist, “Yukselish Namine” newspaper correspondent Elchin Huseynov and “Reyting” newspaper’s editorial office were also considered the board meeting of “Assistance Fund for Freedom of Speech and Defense of Journalists” and they were allocated 200 and 300 USD respectively.
