Azadlig newspaper has been sued because of the articles they published on a press conference held by 67 year old Aliye Tamrazova, who was transferred to psychiatric hospital by her son, according to the newspaper.
Tamrazova`s son Hasan Sultanzade has sued Azadlig newspaper. During the press conference, Aliye Tamrazova said that her son, her son’s wife Malahat Agayeva and her cousin Murad Sultanzade placed her in psychiatric hospital # 1 in Mashtaga on September 19th, 2010, without any supporting court ruling. After she had been in hospital for two days, her doctor’s assessment stated that she did not suffer from mental health problems. Aliye`s lawyer Namig Hajiyev alleged that Sultanzade is trying to prove his mother’s incapacity in order to gain ownership of her property.
After the press conference, Hasan Sultanzade sued his mother, Azadlig newspaper and Yeni Musavat newspaper and var.az website. He requests defendants to pay 502 thousand 150 AZN for material and moral damages in compensation.
