COMMENTARY ON AZERBAIJAN’S PRESS FREEDOM PROBLEM IN GREAT BRITAIN’S FCO ANNUAL HUMAN RIGHTS REPORT

Yesterday Great Britain’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) unveiled its annual human rights report.

In the report, the deterioration of press freedom in Azerbaijan is noted. According to the report, representatives from Great Britain’s FCO continue to bring up this issue with Azerbaijan’s government. The report notes that journalists face both financial and political pressure in Azerbaijan, and, in particular, over the past two years several opposition journalists have been attacked and imprisoned.
