Today a cassation complaint against the decision to imprison “Azadlig” Newspaper Chief Editor Genimat Zahid for four years was filed. Zahid’s lawyer Elchin Sadigov told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety
Recall that on 7 March 2008 the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of Sudaba Mammedova, convicted Zahid of committing hooliganism and hooliganism with the infliction of minor bodily harm. On 13 May 2008 the Appellate Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Abid Abdinbeyov, upheld this decision.
