DAVID KRAMER MEETS WITH MASS MEDIA LEADERS

Today, 18 November, US State Secretary Assistant on Democracy and Human Rights David Kramer, who is visiting Azerbaijan, met with a group of mass media and media related NGO leaders. 

The situation of freedom of speech and press, the danger of closure of foreign radio stations operating via local frequencies, the situation of imprisoned journalists and other issues have been discussed during the meeting.
Editor-in-chief of “Ayna” and “Zerkalo” newspapers Elchin Shikhlinskiy, “Yeni Musavat” newspaper editor-in-chief Rauf Arifoglu, “Bizim Yol” newspaper editor-in-chief Baheddin Haziyev, “Day.az” site director Elnur Baimov, “Mediaforum” news site director Azer Garachenli, the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety Chairman Emin Huseynov, “Women’s Media Watch” Chairperson Sevinj Osmangizi and others participated in the meeting.

Kramer informed the meeting participants of the details of his Baku visit. He noted that he met with the president Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Artut Rasizade and others within the framework of his visit.
