“There’s no European standard to ban foreign radios.” European Union Special Representative for South Caucasus Peter Semnebi said this during his interview with “Radio Liberty” while expressing his position on the plan of Azerbaijan National TV and Radio Council in connection with foreign radio stations.
“There’s no such European standard to hinder foreigners from opening a radio and obtaining a frequency. Our position is that pluralism is very important in media. This is more significant in countries which have lived free press history for a short period of time. In this situation, approving a decision to restrict the activity of the media can have a negative result,” said Semnebi.
