Opposition newspaper Azadliq’s director Faig Amirov is followed by unknown persons, Amirov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) in person.
According to him, while driving he saw a black Hyundai Accent with the number plate “90 CD 674” driving after him. The car followed him all the way along. When he stopped, they also stopped and waited for him.
On another occasion, Faig Amirov again saw unknown people follow him in the same car.
Azadliq newspaper leadership has informed the Ministry of Internal Affairs about the incident. Press Council chairman Aflatun Amashov has also been informed. Amashov has contacted the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and expressed his concern.
Azadliq leadership are also concerned that Faig Amirov may be subjected to a provocation.
