Imprisoned Editor-in-chief of “Gundalik Azerbayjan” and “Realniy Azerbaidjan” newspapers Eynulla Fatullayev’s appeal in connection with the violation of his rights has been submitted to the European Court of Human Rights.
According to “Olaylar” newspaper, Khanlar Hajiyev, Azerbaijan’s Judge in the European Court of Human Rights, told this during his conversation with journalists. However, Hajiyev was unable to answer the question regarding the date of the consideration of this appeal.
The defense lawyer of Fatullayev Isakhan Ashurov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that Hajiyev’s statement is true. “Azerbaijani government has been given time until 16 January 2009 to express its preliminary opinion and objection regarding the case of Eynulla Fatullayev,” said Ashurov.
