GANIMAT ZAHID EXAMINED

Imprisoned Azadlig Newspaper Editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid began to receive treatment. This was told to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety by the journalist’s spouse Ayende Murseliyeva who visited Ganimat on 28 December.

She said that the editor-in-chief was already examined by the doctor.
“He is receiving treatment for his teeth,” said Mursaliyeva. “He gave blood test due to his rheumatism and chest pains, and his cardiogram was taken, but his treatment has not begun yet”.
Ganimat Zahid, who has been recognized as prisoner of conscience, was convicted under articles 127.2.3 (hooliganism with intentional infliction of minor bodily harm) and 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code and imprisoned for four years.    

Azadlig newspaper has been published since 1989 and operates as daily newspaper.
