On March 15 Osman Kazimov, one of imprisoned “Azadlig” Newspaper Chief Editor Ganimet Zahid’s lawyers, was attacked by three people.
Kazimov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety, “This incident occurred at about 9 p.m. near my house. After I was about 200 meters outside my house three people approached me. One of them said to me in a Nakhchivan accent, “You are rabid (ed. this is a literal translation, in Azeri this can also mean excessive or self-satisfied). After this they attacked me. While I resisted blows from one of them, the others kicked me in my legs. However, after this they insulted me and began to leave.”
Kazimov said he has no idea who is behind this incident, but he has reported it to the press and the lawyers’ collegium.
