HEARING HELD ON PARVIZ AZIMOV’S LAWSUIT

Yesterday (11 June), a hearing was held on student/journalist Parviz Azimov's lawsuit to declare illegal his expulsion from Lankeran State University under the chairmanship Judge Azer Samadov in the Lankaran District Court. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by Parviz Azimov.

"Judge Azer Samadov suggested that the sides reconcile,” said Azimov. “I announced that, I will accept this only in the event that I am reinstates as a student at the university. At the same time, LSU representative said that the issue will be discussed by the university administration.”
Amizov’s lawyer, Media Rights Institute employee Khalid Agaliyev told IRFS that the court demanded a document about military service because of the student's expulsion from the university and postponed hearing indefinitely.
LSU alleges that Azimov was expelled from the university because he violated disciplinary rules, however Azimov says he was expelled because of articles he wrote about corruption in LSU for “Janub Khabarlari” Newspaper.
