Elchin Alijanov, the newly appointed deputy chief of Prison #13, has threatened prisoner of conscience Ilkin Rustemzade with death, Ilkin’s mother Atlas Huseynova said. “Today, we went to Prison #13. Things are not good there. Newly appointed deputy chief Elchin Alijanov has proclaimed himself an absolute ruler. He gets whoever he wants beaten up or verbally abused, intimidates them and threatens them with death. He has also intimidated Ilkin and threatened him with death. He has told Ilkin ‘I will stir up a havoc and do away with you, and not even the homosexual commissioners from Europe can rescue you from me’,” Huseynova said and called on human rights defenders, journalists and Penitentiary Service for help.
