INITIATOR OF INTERNET SERVICE LAW NOT KNOWN

On 1 February Milli Mejlis Administration Head Shafa Mirzayev told journalists that a law on internet service will be adopted.

Mirzayev said, "This will in no way cause surveillance of the internet or a monopoly among providers, and the new internet legislation will in no way interfere with the content of the internet."
The Institute for Reporter's Freedom and Safety contacted Multimedia Center head Osman Gunduz to inquire about this initiative. "We found out about this yesterday," said Gunduz. "We don't know who the initiator of this law is, or 'who will regulate what.' I think we need to clarify this issue."
Today IRFS sent an information request and an appeal to Shafa Mirzayev about this
