"Ireli" Youth Movement Press Secretary Mais Musayev has filed a lawsuit against "Yeni Chag" Newspaper and its editor-in-chief Agil Alesgerli.
The lawsuit stems from an article entitled "The 'Ireli' action plan of Pro-Fatullahs," which was published this past December.
A. Alesgerli told the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety, "M. Musayev placed indecent articles about me on his web site. This forced me to publish an article about him. Due to this article, M. Musayev demands that a refutation be published, and that the newspaper pay 60,000 AZN in fines. He also asks the court to close the newspaper." The editor-in-chief also stressed, "We attempted to meet with him and to solve the problem before a trial, but M. Musayev said he was certain he will win the case in court."
The court hearing on this case is scheduled for 4 p.m. on 14 February in the Nasimi District Court. Judge Ikram Shirinov will chair the hearing.
