IRFS ADRESSES AN APPEAL TO PRESIDENT REGARDING ABOUT CREATING MONUMENT TO ELMAR HUSEYNOV

The Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety has addressed an appeal to Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev again regarding the creation of a monument to slain "Monitor" magazine Editor-in-chief Elmar Huseynov.

In the appeal IRFS asks the president to give an order for the allocation of land on Matbuat Prospect to erect a monument to Huseynov. It is noted in the appeal that the local and international communities would assess such an action very positively.
IRFS has also sent an appeal to National Security Minister Eldar Mahmudov, asking him to inform the public about progress in the investigation into E. Huseynov's murder. In the appeal it is stated that the public hasn't been informed about the investigation for a while now, and the minister is asked to make an official public statement about this.
