IRFS NAKHCHIVAN CORRESPONDENT BEATEN

Today, 31 January, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic correspondent Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev was beaten during a gathering held by opposition parties to mark 125th birthday of Mammad Amin Rasulzade in front of “Umid” Party’s Nakhchivan department.

Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic correspondent Elman Abbasov reported this.
According to Abbasov, someone named Ismayil Ismayilov insulted H. Mehdiyev and M. Nasibova using inappropriate language. Then that person hit H. Mehdiyev, who was filming the event, in the face with a ceramic ashtray. As a result, Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev sustained injuries around his eye.
Mehdiyev has already appealed to police regarding the incident. 
On 30 and 31 January, the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic correspondent Elman Abbasov and Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev, and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and Turan News Agency Nakhchivan correspondent Malahet Nasibova were threatened via telephone by a person who identified himself as Malik Aliyev.
