“JANUB KHABARLARI” NEWSPAPER EMPLOYEE CLAIMS HE WAS SUBJECTED TO PRESSURE BY EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION REPRESENTATIVE

Regional “Janub Khabarlari” newspaper’s painter-correspondent Matlab Dadashov has allegedly been subjected to threats and pressure due to his articles and caricatures published in the newspaper. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by M.Dadashov today, 23 July.

According to Dadashov, this harassment stems from his article entitled “Why is the Goodwilled Person Silent” published in the newspaper on 20 July. The article talks about fraud by Masalli region Kolatan village Executive Administration representative Valeh Mikayilov under the name of “charity”.
M.Dadashov said that he already appealed to Masalli District Police Department about moral pressure and threatening calls he faced by Mikayilov. Saying that the appeal was sent to Boradigah Village Police Department because of his residence, Dadashov emphasized that he is hopeful that relevant measures will be taken regarding this issue.

Masalli region Kolatan village Executive Administration representative Valeh Mikayilov denied the reports and evaluated this as slander and insult against him.

“I have never threatened him,” said Mikayilov. “I simply called him and wanted to see him. I wanted to talk about the libelous articles written about me.”
