July 23rd, 2009
Yesterday, 22 July, a group of Azerbaijanis living in France held an action in front of Azerbaijan’s Embassy to France in connection with attacks against freedom of speech. The action was prepared by the Reporters Without Borders International Journalism Organization with Azeri youth. One of action participants Agil Khalil told this to “Turan” news agency.

About 20 young participants gathered in front of embassy to protest attacks against freedom of speech in Azerbaijan. They held the pictures of Azerbaijan’s imprisoned journalists, young bloggers Adnan Hajizade and Emin Milli.
“We submitted the resolution of the action to the embassy,” said Agil Khalil. “It is demanded in the document that the imprisoned journalists be released immediately, the country fulfill its commitments to Commission of Europe and stop harassment against people holding different opinions.” Azerbaijan’s Chief Consul in Paris Famil Aliyev had a meeting with them and listened to them.
