On 2 November Ismayilli Regional Court chaired by Judge Azad Aliyev imposed a 3,000-AZN fine for defamation on Elchin Ismayilli , a member of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP), Azadliq newspaper correspondent and editor of kend.info news website for an article critical of Hasan Hasanov, director of Agriculture Department of Ismayilli region.
Director of Agriculture Department of Ismayilli region Hasan Hasanov brought a 10,000-AZN claim against Elchin Ismayilli in order to protect his business reputation and receive a compensation for alleged material and moral damage.
The lawsuit was initiated on the basis critical article on Hasan Hasanov published on kend.info news website.
Commenting on the court’s judgement, Elchin Ismayilli said he would appeal the decision
