JOURNALIST WAS BEATEN AGAIN

The employees of the Sabail District Police Department 39# used physical violence and insults against “Yukselish Namine” Newspaper correspondent Elchin Hasanov.

In his interview to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety the correspondent noted that, on December 14 in 2007 he was beaten by the police while preparing reportage related to unjust imprisonment of “Azadlig” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief G.Zahid and pressures against the expression of freedom in the country. According to the journalist, he was brought to the Sabail District Police Department 39# and he was also insulted there. In connection with this, Hasanov addressed an appeal to the president’s private email address and the Sabail District Court.
