Today “Yukselish Namina” Newspaper correspondent Elchin Hasanov was received by Ministry of Interior Minister’s special investigation inspector Rza Panahov, Hasanov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
According to Hasanov, his complaint, addressed to President Ilham Aliyev’s email address, about physical violence committed by employees of Sabail District Police Department #39 is being considered. Specifically, the complaint has been sent to the Ministry of Interior for special investigation. In the Ministry of Interior, R. Panahov took down a statement from E. Hasanov and told the journalist that he will be given information about the results of the investigation.
Recall that on 14 December 2007 Hasanov reported being harassed by police while preparing a report about the unjust imprisonment of “Azadlig” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief G. Zahid and pressure against the expression of freedom in Azerbaijan. The journalist noted that he was brought to Sabail District Police Department #39 and he insulted there.
