Today (29 august) in the Yasamal District Court, under the Chairmanship of Judge Abid Abdinbayov a preliminary hearing took place on the appeal complaint of “Mukhalifat” Newspaper Department Editor Yashar Agazade and “Mukhalifat” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Rovshan Kabirli.
Rovshan Kabirli told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
“Yashar Agazade and I were freed through a presidential pardon decree,” said Kebirli. “But the court decision to sentence us to 2.5 years of imprisonment hasn’t been annulled. Although we have been released, the imprisonment is still on us. We appealed to the Yasamal District Court to abolish this decision. We had to file an appeal complaint because the Yasamal District Court didn’t fulfill our lawsuit. Today the preliminary court hearing took place. Judge Abdinbayov scheduled the next hearing for 11 September at 11:00 a.m.”
