The Law Enlightenment Society has sued plenipotentiary representative of Azerbaijan under the Human Rights Court Chingiz Asgerov. The Institute for Reporters` Freedom and Safety was told this by the President of the Law Enlightenment Society Intigam Aliyev.
Intigam Aliyev said that his organization is planning to prepare a report on the situation of the execution of the sixteen decisions adopted by European Court of Human Rights regarding Azerbaijan. Therefore, on 29 July 2009, an information inquiry was sent to Chingiz Asgarov, the Plenipotentiary Representative of Azerbaijan under the European Court of Human Rights, to attain information regarding the work implemented by the government to execute the decisions adopted by the European Court of Human Rights against Azerbaijan.
The Law Enlightenment Society considers that Chingiz Asgarov’s failure to respond to the information inquiry is a violation of right to seek information and appealed to the Sabail District Court to consider the failure to respond to the information inquiry unfounded.
Elnur Hasanov accepted the lawsuit for consideration. A preliminary hearing on this case will be conducted on 26 October.
