LAWSUIT AGAINST PRESS COUNCIL NOT FULFILLED

Today, June 30, in the Binegedi District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Allahveren Hasanov, a hearing was conducted on the lawsuit of “Korrupsiya va Jamiyyet” Journal’s Editor-in-Chief Mammad Ahmedoglu against the Press Council and the Council’s Deputy Chairman Vugar Rahimzade.

Plaintiff Mammed Ahmedoglu and lawyer Abdulla Afendizade, as well as Vugar Rahimzade’s representative Rahim Huseynzade and Press Council Social Committee Chairman Mushfig Alesgerli participated in the hearing.
During the hearing the judge issued a decision not to fulfill the lawsuit.
 “Korrupsiya va Jamiyyet” Journal was included on the list of ‘racketeering newspapers unveiled recently by Azerbaijan’s Press Council. M. Ahmedoglu says that his journal is not involved in racketeering. Therefore he has appealed to the Binagadi District Court asking the Press Council to publish a refutation and every defendant to pay 4,000 AZN for moral damages.
