Today, 3 February, in the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of judge Elchin Gurbanov, a preliminary hearing was held on the lawsuit of “Binagadi” religious community against “Gundalik Baki” Newspaper.
The special plaintiff was represented by lawyer Kamil Abbasov and the defendant was represented by “Gundalik Baki” Newspaper’s Founder and Editor-in-chief Habil Valiyev. “Gundalik Baki” Newspaper Deputy Editor-in-chief Uzeyir Jafarov reported this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
“The judge did not consider that evidence presented by the special accuser was sufficient and therefore rejected to consider the lawsuit,” said Jafarov.
The lawsuit stems from series of articles about Head of Caucasus Muslims Department Sheykul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade published in “Gundalik Baki” Newspaper.
