MASS MEDIA AND NGO LAW AMENDMENTS TO BE DISCUSSED IN PARLIAMENT ON JUNE 30

During the extraordinary session of parliament held today, a packet of proposed amendments to the Azerbaijan Republic’s laws on Mass Media, Non-governmental Organizations, State Fees, and Donors and the Administrative Code was briefly discussed and then held for further discussion on 30 June.

This packet of amendments, in its current form, has very serious implications for local and foreign NGOs operating in Azerbaijan, restricting their activities to the point that many NGOs’ believe they will be banned or only able to operate on an extremely limited scope.
