MOTION FILED REGARDING INVOLVEMENT OF PEOPLE FILING LAWSUIT AGAINST ALOVSAT OSMANLI

Today, 19 March, in the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of judge Khagani Tagiyev, a hearing was held on the special format lawsuit of the “Council for Textbook Evaluation” (CTE) operating under Ministry of Education against expert on textbooks Alovsat Osmanli.

The plaintiff’s lawyer Javad Javadov, and defendant Alovsat Osmanli and his representative Elchin Sadigov took part in the hearing.
Sadigov presented to the court one of the books evaluated positively by the “Council for Textbook Evaluation” and Osmanli’s letters addressed to the Council to be added to the case materials. The lawyer filed a motion to appoint an examination for Osmanli’s writings and to involve CTE members in the hearings.
The judge scheduled the next hearing on this case for 7 April 3:30 p.m. to be familiar with the documents and motions.   
The members of the Council for Textbook Evaluation appealed to the Yasamal District Court regarding the sentence in A.Osmanli’s series of articles related to the problems in education in Azadlig newspaper,  “The Council for Textbook Evaluation commits falsification in choosing textbook sets” under article 147.1 of the Criminal Code.
