NORWAY’S FOREIGN MINISTER JONAS GAHR STORE TALKS ABOUT HIS BAKU VISIT

An article about Norway’s Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store’s visit to Baku a few days ago has been published on “Abcnyheter” internet site of Norway.

According to “Radio Liberty”, it is stated in the article that during the minister’s visit to Baku the situation of journalists was a charged topic during meetings he conducted with Azerbaijani government officials.

The minister’s meeting with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and their discussions about the problems related to the situation of journalists are reflected in the article. Store said, “They claim that the journalists were arrested on legal grounds. But I clearly explained that to be represented in the Council of Europe and to arrest journalists don’t fit in one place.” Store added that Mammadyarov told him that he is not capable of doing anything about this issue.  “Neither I nor you can do anything. The Court adopted these decisions, I didn’t. What I can do is to respect this situation,” Mammadyarov said.
