PENITENTIARY SERVICE DENIES REPORTS THAT S. ZAHIDOV NOT BEING GIVEN HIS MEDICATION

Justice Ministry Penitentiary Service Public Relations Department evaluated the reports about not giving "Azadlig" newspaper satiric/journalist Sakit Zahidov his medicine in time as disinformation.

A senior official of the department told the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety, "The reports about not giving Sakit Zahidov his medicines are far from the truth. He receives his medicine on a timely manner. This is disinformation."
Recall that Sakit's wife Rena Zahidova, who visited her husband on 2 July, told the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and safety that Sakit Zahidov is not allowed to receive his medicine in time. Prison officials are creating artificial obstacles to prevent the journalist from taking medicine that was sent from the United States.
