Police reported to protesters

A group of young activists came to the building of the Khazar District Police Department on August 5, demanding the punishment of the employees who exerted physical pressure on the feminists the day before.

A group of feminists poured paint on the doors of the Khazar police on August 4, protesting against the inaction of the police, in connection with domestic violence against Sevinj Maharramova, a resident of the village Zira, who was killed by her husband. The protesters were detained and later told about the pressure in the police.

Today, groups of young activists demanded that police officers be punished. A police major came out to them and denied the charges. The major said that there were “signs of hooliganism” in the actions of the protesters, but no action was taken against them.

The major also denied police inaction in the Maharramova case. According to him, the police conducted an investigation and brought the case to court. The officer behaved with restraint in front of the onslaught of the protesters.

Police officers first pushed the activists away from the building. At the same time, the young people chanted: “The killer system protects the killers!” (qatil sistem – qatili qoruyur). Then they poured red paint over the Interior Ministry’s emblem on the police gate and dispersed. There were no detainees.
