Political Activist Taken to Police Office over Facebook Posts

On 21 February, Chairperson of Yasamal district branch of Classical Popular Front Party (CPFP) Nisakhanim Valiyeva was taken from her home to the 29th police station of Yasamal District Police Department, CPFP chairman Mirmahmud Miralioglu told the media.

According to the party chairman, Valiyeva was brought to Yasamal District Police Department after being held in the police station for two hours. She was interrogated for four hours in the Department. During the interrogation, she was required to delete her critical Facebook posts. The party activist was freed after deleting the posts.

CPFP assesses the detention of its branch chairperson as the consolidation of the police regime and a violation of human rights.
