Today in the Grave Crime Court under the chairmanship of the Judge Jamal Ramazanov a preliminary hearing court on a lawsuit against imprisoned “Bizim Yol” Newspaper correspondent Mushvig Huseynov was conducted.
The judge inquired Mushvig Huseynov according to information form. In his response to “which position did you have in “Bizim Yol” Newspaper” question he answered that, “I only cooperated with that newspaper, wrote articles for it and got honorariums”. The judge noted that, “in the information form it is noted that, your position in that newspaper is the social-economic department director, we’ll define it”. After that, the imprisoned journalist’s lawyer Vugar Khasayev filed a petition related to invitation and interrogation of “Bizim Yol” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Bahadddin Haziyev and his deputy director Elchin Rustemov as witnesses to the hearing. The lawyer grounded the petition as following: “both Haziyev and Rustamov told during the investigation that, Mushvig Huseynov is the social-economic department director of the newspaper and they also introduced official card to him. But Mushvig Huseynov’s testimonies regarding this matter are different from theirs. In conclusion there are serious contrasts between them. Those people noted that, M.Huseynov’s position was Editor in the newspaper and he had an official card. According to the testimonies, though he didn’t have any contract and order, Huseynov was responsible for all social-economic articles published in the neüspaper”. The judge asked the position of both public prosecutor and Mushvig Huseynov related to the petition. Though public prosecutor didn’t protested against the petition, he considered the realization of it unnecessary. But Mushvig Huseynov noted that he agreed with the petition and also added that “I wasn’t an editor in the newspaper and never had an official card”.
During the next court hearing it will be clear out whether the petition is fulfilled or not. The judge scheduled the next hearing on January 10 at 10 p.m.
