Today, under the chairmanship of Yasamal District Court Judge Ragib Gurbanov, a preliminary court hearing took place on the lawsuit for inactivity in response to an information request against Baku State University Director Abel Maharramli put forth by "Bizim Yol" Newspaper correspondent Natig Adilov.
Plaintiff Natig Adilov and his lawyer Asif Yusifli, as well as A. Maharramov’s lawyer Tofig Sadigov participated in the hearing. The judge clarified the rights and duties of both parties. The lawyer of the defendant said, "We received the information request on 29 November and replied to it on 12 December."
N. Adilov stated that he never received a response. Then the judge asked them if they had any petitions. The representative of the defendant said that he will go abroad due to health problems and petitioned to conduct next hearing after 18 March. The judge reminded him that according to the legislation of Azerbaijan, a civil case should be carried out within a month and the time will be up on 8 March. Thus the judge didn't fulfill the petition.
The next hearing on this case is now scheduled to take place on 7 March at 11 a.m.
Recall that on 29 November 2007 Abilov sent an information request to Baku State University about how Roya Najafova (Roya Aykhan) was admitted to the university. However the inquiry went unanswered. Abilov demands the court to accept a resolution that would make the university answer the questions of the inquiry in details, and adopt a special decision about A. Maharramov under the article 265.1 of the Civil Procedural Code of Azerbaijan.
